The Blue Zone diet is a plant based diet focused on natural foods and is derived from the areas that have the greatest longevity. Transitioning from a typical American diet to a Blue Zone diet can increase life by around 10 years for an average 20 year old and about 6 years for most 60 year olds. It encourages basic materials but discourages the use of ultra processed food often found in supermarkets whereby this would encourage simpler home cooked meals.
